Views From Afar

It is uncanny to know that life, as much life as where you are, exists proportionately elsewhere. We become engrossed in our daily rituals and our immediate environments that rarely do we heed what's going on beyond. I was sitting on the sand at Miami Beach, admiring the seascape and the excitement of happy children on their family day trips to the beach, and I noticed the tiny geometric shapes of Surfer's Paradise up yonder. It seemed like a whole world away, what, the tourist hub and commercial hype that it is. When you look at things from a distance, you thus distance yourself from it, and then, can you form a rational judgement about it. Those geometric shapes were nothing but geometric shapes from where I sat, and it was nice to have that perspective.
