The Land

Right down the road is Seventh Brigade Park. During World War I, the land was used by the Australian army to station artillery and light horse units. After the war, the Seventh Brigade quit on a two year repose, and was subsequently reestablished in 1921 in response to escalating conflicts in Europe, preceding to the Second World War. Seventy-three hectares of land was occupied by five of the infantry battalions, ground that spurred mighty hardcore training. Now, with the nations' peace, the place is pretty empty, save for the local afternoon joggers and dog-walkers. But, I like it this way. The land needs its rest.
